The Spear of Baldr
Weapon (spear), legendary (requires attunement)
This magic spear made of mistletoe gives a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls. The wielder can cast entangle (DC 16) twice per day and goodberry twice per hour. When a target restrained by the spear's entangle spell is hit with the spear, it must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or die as mistletoe parasitizes its entire body.
This is probably ludicrously overpowered but I don't care, it slew a god so it can kill a few wizards too. Based on the Norse myth of the death of Baldr, where Freya made everything on Earth swear an oath not to harm him, except for harmless mistletoe; so Loki made a spear out of it and challenged the other gods to a game of "let's stab Baldr with stuff and watch it bounce off". It's also based on real properties of mistletoe, which is actually a parasite that kills the tree it grows in. I picture creatures killed by the spear turned into freaky wooden statues made of twisting roots, like the dead Deku in Majora's Mask.
I want more magic spears. And regular spears. We have like a dozen magic swords in the DMG, and they're practically all we see in fantasy fiction, even though historically spears were by far the most common weapon on the battlefield. Spears get the javelin of lightning, and I'm pretty sure that's it. But they can be cool too! They have reach, they can be thrown or used in melee, they're great for formation fighting or against cavalry. And while swords are a symbol of nobility and status from their use in the Middle Ages, spears hearken back to the ancient Greek heroes of the Iliad, breaking them against each others' rock-hard abs in single combat. Hell yeah. More spears.
